Bio
Tess is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer, and music educator. She began her relationship with SAE as a recording artist, but was soon recognized for her unique combination of raw musical talent and theory knowledge. She is now the lead instructor of the Applied Music Theory Program.
Tess studied at Capilano University, and holds a Bachelors of Jazz Studies in vocal performance and composition, as well as a Classical Music Diploma in piano and voice.. Since then, Tess has been performing, teaching, and curating her own projects within the Vancouver music scene. In addition to collaborations with established producers, she has studied with and performed alongside some of the city’s finest musicians, as well as her emerging indie-electronic band, SUGARFUNGUS. She hopes to inspire young creators through her passion for songwriting, developed through a unique blend of Western classical music, jazz, and pop/electronic.
